Potty Training 101

I decided to potty train Nixon all the way back at the beginning of October.
I'm just WAY behind on blogging.
Anyway, the night before I started the potty training, Nixon and I went on a "potty date."
He came with me to the store and I let him pick out everything.
He picked out the balloons, the streamers, what undies he wanted, as many capri suns as he wanted, his treats, his potty jar, and his stickers.
He was SO excited.
We talked about going potty on the big boy potty the whole time we were on our date.

After he went to bed, I decorated his bathroom.
I know it may seem a little over the top, but I knew that I had to make it as exciting as possible for him.
He absolutely loved the bathroom when he first saw it.

This was his potty chart.
Every time he went potty on the toilet, he got to pick out a sticker and put it on the poster board.
(I meant to get a picture of it with all the stickers after we were done training but I forgot.)

He also chose this pumpkin to be his potty jar.
Every time he went potty he was able to pick one treat out of the pumpkin.
Every time he had an accident, I took a handful of treats out of the pumpkin.
He did not like that part at all!

He was seriously a champ.
I was dreading potty training so bad.
I was nervous about it because it's something I had never done before.
But Nixon totally surprised me!
He only had 2 accidents on day 1.
I was so excited.
Day 2 was a different story.
He had 4 accidents.
And the part that I was worried about was that he didn't even care that he was wet when he had an accident.
I knew that I couldn't give up though.
Day 3 he had 2 accidents.
And day 4 he had NO accidents.
I was SO SO SO happy and excited.
And from then on he's been a champ.

He looks so cute in his big boy undies.
He's getting so big and growing up so fast!!!
