Standing Up

So lately nap time has been pretty difficult. Since Nixon is crawling around everywhere, once I put him down for his nap, he just crawls all over his crib and talks. It takes him a long time to fall asleep because he can entertain himself with crawling and making noises. So every once in a while I will go in and put his binky back in his mouth and give him his cuddle blankey until he falls asleep. I have to say that he is a lot happier now that he's mobile. Anyway, so Saturday afternoon, I put him down for his afternoon nap. After a little while, he just starts talking and making noises like crazy. I go in to give him his binky and this is what I see.

As soon as I walked in he just gave me this huge grin like "look what I can do mom." I was laughing so hard. I ran and got my camera to capture this "first" of his.
And now this is his favorite thing to do. He crawls everywhere and will climb up on anything that he can find that will allow him to stand up. He is definitely a wild child. He crawls everywhere, and if something is in his way, he won't crawl around it, he will only crawl over it. It's so funny. He is obviously following after his daddy's footsteps who started walking at 7 months. We are hoping that this isn't the case, but with the way things are going, we won't be surprised if it's coming soon. And I do have to admit that it is nice that he's mobile now. It does make things a little easier for me, but at the same time, I have to keep a closer eye on him. We have the baby gate up on the stairs, and we are baby proofing the house a lot more. Things are good and we are so happy that we have such a healthy, happy baby.

Spanish Fork Rodeo

We had a great 24th of July this year. We just kinda hung out in the morning and did stuff around the house, and then my mom and dad came over and we all had a b.b.q. The food was absolutely delicious. Steak, ribs, grilled zucchini, salad, and Reeses peanut butter chocolate cookies that I made. We ate a ton, and were ready to head over to the rodeo. We had so much fun at the rodeo. It was super super windy and rained a little at the beginning, but once that blew over, it was perfect. Summer nights in Utah are one of my favorite things.

Here are Nic and I with the arena behind us. Little story....our seats were on the very top bleacher. I grabbed my phone, sent a text, and as I went to put my phone back in the diaper bag, I missed the pocket and it fell all the way to the ground. I was not a happy camper at that moment. Oh well right. What do you do?!? So I was without a phone for a little while, but my husband, being the handy man that he is, fixed it last night. YAY!!! I was so happy. I feel like I'm disconnected from the world without my phone. HAHA! And that's my story.
Here's Daddy and Nixon. SO cute!!!

And mommy and Nixon. I have no idea why he has his mouth open in both of these pictures. HAHA!! He's a crazy little boy.

Ok so these two pictures are of the entertainment they had in between events. This guy came riding out on these two oxen. It was amazing. We have never seen anything like it. He had them totally trained. He did this whole skit on the oxen and pioneers and it was so fitting for that day. It was truly amazing. He had these HUGE oxen standing on little platforms, laying down and playing dead, crawling on their knees and jumping through rings of fire. It was really really cool.

Here we are again. I was looking at all my pictures and decided that we don't take very many of the two of us. HAHA. So I'm trying to be better at that.

Grandma with Nixon. She absolutely LOVES to hold and cuddle with him. And check out the huge, pretty blue eyes. I LOVE them!!!
And my dad and Nic.
It was such a fun day. We had great company, good food, and fun entertainment. Thank you mom and dad for such a fun day. Love you guys!!

Nixon's Late 6 Month Post

Ok so I'm like 3 weeks late doing this post, but better late than never right?!?! Anyway, Nixon is definitely getting quite the personality. He is a VERY active baby and never stops. He's all smiles and brings so much happiness to Nic and I. Dr. Cherrington was impressed with Nixon at his 6 month check up. He couldn't believe how big he is and couldn't believe that's he's crawling and is so mobile already.
His stats: 18 lbs. 6 oz. (95%)
28 in. (95%)
I don't remember his head, but it's in the 75%

Things he's doing...
-smiles like crazy
-sleeps about 10-12 hrs. a night
-takes 2-3 naps per day
-knows his name
-eats 6 oz. every bottle
-LOVES his solid food
-eats bananas, applesauce, squash, sweet potatoes, green beans, peaches, pears, carrots and loves them all
-hates peas
-crawls EVERYWHERE
-scrunches his nose when he smiles
-loves chords and wires
-loves to be thrown up in the air and caught
-laughs out loud a lot
-likes to pull Emmi's ears and tail
-knows mommy and daddy's voices
-recognizes both sets of grandparents
-sits up like a big boy in his stroller
-almost grown out of his car seat (3 1/2 lbs. to go til we need a new one)
-wears 6-12 month clothing, but almost grown out of his 6 month size clothes
-loves to be outside
-loves walks in his stroller
-getting to be able to entertain himself a lot better because he' mobile
-loves the water
-loves bath time
-hates water in his face

He is getting to be so much fun, and Nic and I couldn't be more greatful that he's our son. We still can't believe sometimes that we have a son, but we are so so so thankful everyday that he's ours.

Catching Up

Ok so I know I'm way past due on an update, so here we go. There are a lot of pics!! And I have no idea whey these first few are smaller than the last pictures. Anyway, We have had a lot going on. Nixon is now 6 months old and he is SO much fun these days. He's so happy!! I will be doing his 6 month post soon. These first few pictures are from my birthday this past Saturday. I had a great day thanks to all of my family. I love you all and thank you for everything.

Here is Nixon and Grandpa just hangin out. The day started out with me going into my new spa for a couple of hours to help move it and get things organized. We open this Thursday, so there's a lot of craziness going on.
My mom and dad took us to Cafe Rio for my birthday dinner. This picture is hilarious. For some reason, Nixon loved that napkin. He had that thing in his mouth forever. I was laughing so hard (as you can see in the picture). He was so funny. And my dad, being a grandpa, gave Nixon some whip cream from the tres leches, and I'm sure he regretted giving him some. Once you give this kid a taste of something, he doesn't want to stop eating it. He can't just have a little taste. He wants more and he lets you know very loudly, that he wants more. He will just yell until you give him what he wants. And luckily it's not a crying yell, if that makes sense, he just wants to be sure that you can hear him. But little does he know that the whole restaurant can hear him. Haha. He's so funny.

He we are in line at Cafe Rio. I freakin love this place!!! After dinner, my mom and dad babysat Nixon so Nic and I could go on a date. We went and watched The Hangover and oh my gosh it was freakin hilarious. We had so much fun and it was so nice to go on a date with just the two of us. Thank you mom and dad!!

Our cute family.

Papa took Nixon on his first 4 wheeler ride. This little boy absolutely LOVES being outside. He is never fussy when he's outside, and if he's fussing in the house, we'll go outside and he calms right down. Lately, we've been putting a blanket on the grass and letting him go crazy. He crawls all over the place and he loves it.
Here we are on the Fourth of July. We had a B.B.Q. at our friends house. It was a lot of fun. Good food. Good friends. Fun games. And great fireworks from the Stadium of Fire. They live above the Provo temple, so we had a perfect view of the fireworks from their deck. It was a really fun night!

The girls, and Nixon, hanging out.
