Future Baseball Player

This past Saturday, we went to the Orem Owlz game with our good friends Jason and Kelli. We had SO much fun. It was a perfect summer night. Summer isn't complete without going to baseball games. Nixon has always loved going to games, and that night, it was no different. We sat on the grass and he just crawled all over the place. This little guy does not know how to sit still. He definitely LOVES being outside. We have figured out that if he's fussy, we just need to go outside, and he's happy as can be. And I can't believe that he's going to be 6 months old on Sunday. He's getting so big!!!

Here he is with daddy's hat on acting like a big boy. He LOVES to stand up all the time. We'll try to get him to sit (which he now does on his own...I need to get a picture) but he would rather stand up.
We had to get a pic of him with the hat on with the baseball field in the background. I'm sure it's a sign of things to come!

And here he is at the end of the game, passed out. Check out those cheeks!
Here Nic and I are at the game. I figured that I needed to post a pic of us together on here because it has been a long time since there has been a picture that's not Nixon. We are so happy to be in Utah and are so excited for the rest of the summer!

Home Sweet Home

We are back home in Utah!!! YAY!! It was something we had been thinking about, and felt like it was the was the right decision for us. So, Friday morning we finally made the decision. We started packing everything up around 3pm that day, and we were on the road by 10:30 that night to start our 27 hour drive. Crazy, I know! We thought that if we drove through the night, Nixon would sleep through most of the night, which he did. We forgot to think about us not sleeping through the night. The drive was by far the longest drive either of us have ever done. It was so long and it felt like we were never going to get home.

Here is Nic driving. He drove pretty much the whole way. I drove for probably a total of 1 1/2 hours out of the 27 it took to get home. Thanks babe for being such a trooper! Nixon was an absolute champ. He slept a ton and would just play with his toys when he was awake. He never really fussed or anything. I couldn't have asked for him to be better.

So by the time we FINALLY got into Utah, Nic and I had been awake for total of about 32 hours. We were EXTREMELY goofy and delirious. It was actually hilarious and we definitely entertained each other. When we got to Grand Junction, Nic wanted me to drive a little, so I did. Right when we passed Green River, it started raining and then all of a sudden, out of nowhere it was an absolute downpour with thunder, lightning, and the hardest rain we have ever seen. Seriously, Nic and I have never seen it rain as hard as it did then. And of course I was driving. I could not see a thing! I managed to get off an exit and pull over and we just waited the storm out. I was freaked out and panicked. Of course it had to happen while I was driving. But it did wake us both up, and Nic drove the rest of the way home. By that time, we were both crazy. We don't even know what we were talking about. We were just blabbing.

We finally made it home. We had been awake for a total of 40 hours. It was the longest day of our lives. We went straight to bed and it felt amazing to be in our own bed. It was so nice to be home! We are so glad that we are back in Utah, and we are excited to have a summer filled with baseball games, rodeo's, camping and boating. It's going to be a great summer!

Here is our car pack to the brim. I seriously don't know how Nic managed to get everything in here. When Nic drove out to Tennessee, Nixon and I weren't with him, so he was able to use the whole back seat and the front seat to put stuff on, and it was packed then. So we really have no idea how we fit everything. This is the back of the car.

This is the backseat of the car. Nixon had a tiny little area for his car seat.

on the move

I can't believe this, but Nixon is starting to crawl. Right now, it's more like an army crawl, but still. He's just barely 5 months old!!! Seriously?!?! And everyday he's getting better and better at it. He's all over the place now. I guess he's taking after his dad. Nic started walking at 7 months, so he must be follwing in his daddy's footsteps. starting things early on.

This is his latest pose. He is always like this now. It's hilarious! When he's on his tummy, he does this if you call his name or if he watches t.v. or something. It's so funny. Nic and I always say that he thinks he's cool laying like this.
This was just Nixon and I chillin yesterday. I love my little man.

Happy Birthday!!!

So yesterday was Nic's 26th birthday. I was sad that I wasn't able to post, but our power was out for almost 24 hours. We had a tornado touch down a little ways a way from us, but we felt the effects from it (story to come later), so I didn't have the internet yesterday. Anyway, I just wanted to wish my amazing hubby a happy birthday. I love him so much and couldn't ask for anything better. I hope he had a good day, even though he had to work all day, but we get to hang out today and pretend his birthday it really today. I love you babe!! Thanks for all that do you for me and Nixon. Love ya tons!!!!!!!!

5 Months!!!!

My little guy is 5 months old today. I can't believe it. He's growing so fast, and getting so big. Besides him crying once in a while, he's getting to be so much fun. Since I did that post on him crying, I think I've had 2 or 3 days that haven't been good, but other than that, he's been a lot of fun. He is definitely a mama's boy, but he does miss his dad. Daddy loves spending his morning with him and he loves his daddy. One of our favorite things is to go get him out of his crib in the morning, and right before we pick him up, he gives us a huge smile. He really is a happy baby when he's not crying. He smiles a lot and loves to laugh. We love him so so so much and are so happy that he came into our lives.

Here are things Nixon does:

-smiles a lot
-laughs a lot
-eats 6 oz. every 3-4 hours
-eats his rice cereal
-eats baby food bananas and LOVES it
-gets excited to eat
-rolls over and over and over
-rolls all over the house
-chews on everything
-loves to stand
-loves to sit up and see what's going on
-growing out of his 3-6 month clothes
-still cries (sometimes a lot)
-LOVES the pool
-still sleeps through the night
-loves his Johnny Jump Up
-talks a lot
-goes to bed at 8 every night and wakes up between 7:30-8:00 in the morning
-recognizes his name
-knows mommy and daddy's voices
-loves his bumbo chair
-is almost comletely grown out of his 3-6 month clothes

I thought this picture was so cute. He's passed out in his stroller at the pool. He must have been exhausted!

B-A-N-A-N-A-S

We started Nixon on baby food today. I've had a lot of people tell me multiple things about starting him on veggies first or fruit first, and I've also read things about it. We decided to start him on bananas today. It took him a second to get used to the taste, but he seemed to like them. I'm going to be keeping a written journal on here of what he eats and if he has a reaction to it. Sorry if that's not very exciting to read about, but I'm doing it for myslef because it's an easy way to keep a journal. Anyway, I put this video on here for Nixon's grandparents to be able to see him eat. They all wanted to see him the first time he ate baby food.

And thank you so much for all the other teething toys you sent me. I love chewing on them.
I love you guys and miss you!
