Just Because
Here are a few cute pictures of Nixon. He's 3 1/2 weeks old now. It's crazy that my little baby is almost 1 month old. It's amazing how much he has changed already. He's growing so much and is a healthy boy. It's been challenging at times, but i'm loving every moment I get with him.
Here he is watching tv with dad.

Our Little Guy
Here are some pictures of our little guy. Sorry I have taken so long to post these. Our computer has been getting fixed, and I have been kinda busy these past few days. Here's my story about bringing baby Nixon into this world.
Before Nic and I went to sleep, Nic told me that if I had contractions, I had to wake him up and that if I didn't, he would be mad at me. I thought it was kinda weird that he said that considering I still had 9 days left until my due date. At about 3:45 a.m. on Monday Jan. 5th, I got woken up by what I thought were contractions. I kinda just laid there and waited for them to go away. They didn't go away. I woke Nic up at about 4 and we were timing them and they were about 3-4 min. apart. I got in the tub and they just kept getting worse. I called the hospital at about 4:30 and they told me to not come in until my contractions were a minute long and they hurt so bad it took my breath away. At about 6:30 they were really bad so I called my Doc. He told me to come in to the hospital and have them check me. We went in our pajamas...(I didn't have my bag packed or anything- we were assuming it was a false alarm) They checked me and I was 90% effaced and dilated to a 2. They had me walk around for about a half hour and checked me again and I hadn't progressed. The nurse told me they would probably give me some pain medication and send me home until it wore off and then have me come back in. She went and talked to Dr. Judd and came back into my room and told me he was going to break my water and get everything going. So he comes in and breaks my water and I immediately get my epidural. What a lifesaver!!!!!!!!!!! Within an hour and a half, I was dilated to a 10 and completely effaced. Dr. Judd came in at 1 p.m. to deliver Nixon. I started pushing at 1:11 and Nixon was born at 1:20. He did have to use foreceps, but he is absolutely amazing at what he does and he uses them on almost all his deliveries no matter what. I have to say that the whole experience was so surreal. Labor was not even close to what I thought it was going to be. I heard so many horror stories, so I was pretty nervous about something happening. I have to say that I was lucky and had it really easy. Once I got the epidural, it's like we were just hanging out waiting for him to come and I couldn't feel a thing. It was amazing!!
Here's Dr. Judd with Nixon. It's crazy to look at this picture and see how swollen he was right after delivery.

All strapped in to his car seat ready to go home. I was so nervous the whole ride home. Nic drove extra carefully and thankfully it stopped snowing that day.
Here he is doing what he does best. You can see a little scab on the side of his head from the foreceps. It's all gone now but it was sad to see that on him.
Just hangin out with daddy. Nic has been absolutely amazing!! He already is such a wonderful dad and he's loving taking care of his boy! They have already watched multiple football and basketball games together. Nic loves it!
Here's the cutie pie! This picture is exactly how he usually sleeps. We will swaddle him all tight, but he always manages to get at least one arm out. We have learned that he doesn't like having his arms in. Now I know what he was doing while he was in my stomach. He is such a good baby. He eats every 3 hours and boy does he eat a lot. When he's not eating he sleeps. He does fuss once in a while, but it's usually because he's hungry.

It's absolutely amazing being parents. I can't even describe the love that we have for this little guy. Having your own child really is a miracle, and Nic and I couldn't be more blessed to be able to have a healthy little boy. We love love love having this little guy in our home!!
