Beach Day

We went to the beach this past weekend and it was Nixon's first time experiencing it. Saying that he loved it is an understatement. He was in pure heaven. He didn't know what to do with himself between playing in the water and the waves, playing in the sand, and having so much free space to just run, he was loving every second of it. He seriously didn't stop for a second that we were there. He was so cute and had SO SO SO much fun.

He loved the waves. The very first time he went in the water, he saw the waves coming at him and he yelled "No, No" and backed away from them. I was laughing so hard. And that lasted for about 2 seconds and then he loved playing in them.
Nixon and Hudson playing in the sand.

HAHA....Like father like son I guess.
Me and Char Char (that's what Nixon calls CharLee)

Love his little smirk.

HAHAHAHA. Caught in action.

I love this little dude. We were sad daddy couldn't be with us but he's working so hard and we are so thankful and so proud of him!!!

What We've Been Up To

We have been staying really busy here in Boston this summer. There is so much to do here which makes it a lot of fun. There have been a lot of cloudy and rainy days lately but when the sunshine decides to come out, we take full advantage of it.

There's a fun sprinkler park that's not too far away and the kids absolutely love it. They have a big sandbox, two nice big playgrounds and the fun sprinklers for the kids to run through. Nixon absolutely loves it all and never stops while we're there. I have to force him to stop and eat something while we're there.

We take full advantage of the time we get to spend with Nic since it isn't very much these days. We go to the pool every morning that it's warm enough. Nixon LOVES the water and isn't afraid at all so we have to keep a very close eye on him.

Nixon LOVES motorcycles and there was a dare day going on at a park right by our apartments so we stopped by and saw this motorcycle. Nixon was going crazy over it so I asked the cop if I could sit him on it and he didn't like it so much. HAHA. He likes to look at them but not be on them I guess...hopefully he thinks this same way forever. HAHA.
We've been bowling New England style a couple of times and it has been a lot of fun. It's called candlestick bowling and it's so hard and so different from regular bowling. The balls are the size of like a ski ball and the pins are tall and skinny like candle sticks. You seriously have to throw the ball down the lane to get it to knock anything down. Nixon loves trying to throw it with the help of daddy of course. We love spending time with Nic as much as we can. We are having a lot of fun out here but definitely miss home!!!

Nixon's New Trick

This is Nixon's new trick.
He thinks it's great.
He loves it!!
And he's proud of it.

Nic and I on the other hand aren't very excited about it.
We actually don't like it at all.

During the summer while we are away from home, Nixon sleeps in a pack and play. Well, two nights ago we put Nixon to sleep and could hear him talking and playing in his pack and play, which is normal. It sounded a little louder than usual but he went sleep happy so we didn't think anything of it. Nic thought he could hear Nixon by the door but wasn't sure so Nic went to go check on him and when he opened Nixon's bedroom door he hit Nixon with the door!!! Nic yelled for me to come see him and sure enough Nixon was just standing there. We put him right back in to go to sleep and luckily he went right to sleep. The next day for his nap we didn't have such luck. This is what I caught him doing. I caught him in the act!!!
When we tried to put him to sleep last night, he was out of that thing within seconds. Nic and I were panicking. We had no idea what to do. Our friends Jeff and Charlee were over and they were trying to help us think of someway to trap him in so he couldn't get out.
This is what we came up with. We put his pack and play in his closet flush up against the suitcases and the wall so that at least two sides are blocked off. We then moved his dresser in front of the closet so that other side is blocked off. It's the best we could come up with. But it worked and that's all that matters!!
Here he is...stuck!!! When we finally put him to bed he cried for like a minute and then he was quiet. We weren't sure if he was trying to figure a way out or if he gave up and went to sleep. We checked on him later last night and sure enough he was asleep. Hopefully this lasts for the rest of the summer til we get home and he can be in his crib again.

On a side note: Nic's mom had to do the same to Nic when he was little. She put a card table on top of his crib and then had to put heavy stuff on top of the table so he couldn't get out. HAHA. Like father, like son!!!
