Spring Weather

We had some really nice Spring weather over this past weekend so of course we had to take advantage of it!

On Sunday we went up to Deer Creek with our good friends Mitch and Christine and their cute little daughter Hudson.(who was born the day before Nixon) We set up our little area and just hung out. The guys set up their fishing poles and made a fire. We made some super yummy tin foil dinners and had some yummy snacks. We had such a good time just hanging out and enjoying the beautiful weather. The kids LOVED it!!! Nixon could seriously be outside all day everyday if we let him so he was LOVING hanging out. He loved to go to the edge of the water, he actually wanted to get in and kept saying "wa wa" "wa wa." He was loving playing in the dirt, finding and throwing rocks, and breaking twigs off the branches of trees.
Mommy and Nixon enjoying the sunshine. By the time we were ready to leave, it started to get really windy so we had to put our jackets on.
Daddy with his favorite boy in the whole world!
Nic with the two little munchkins.
These two little kiddos are so cute together. They would follow each other around where ever they went. The four of us parents have already agreed that these two are allowed to date each other when they get older. HAHA.
Nixon loved Hudson's cute little chair. He would stand up on it and fall forward and laugh and then do it all over. He is seriously a wild man!
Cute little Hudson on her chair. Her and Nixon are seriously so freakin cute together!
We also had gorgeous weather on Monday. We decided to go on a family bike ride on the Hobble Creek trail. It was beautiful and we had a really fun time. Nixon of course LOVED riding on the back of Daddy's bike. I'm planning on taking my bike out to Boston this summer so we can go on many more bike rides.
After our bike ride we went and fed the ducks in Provo. Nixon LOVED it!! The ducks are used to having people feed them so as you park your car, all of the ducks start walking over because they know food is coming. Nixon stood there in awe at all of them. He would point and get so excited. He was so stinkin cute! When we were ready to leave he threw a HUGE fit. He was kicking and screaming as we put him in his car seat.

I seriously LOVE Spring and am so excited that it is FINALLY starting to get warm here in Utah.

14 Months

Nixon is now 14 months old.
As you all know, from previous posts, we have our challenges with him, but the good and fun times definitely out weigh the challenging times with him.
He is growing so fast and is learning something new every day.
He is so alert and doesn't miss a thing that goes on.
He is such a joy to have in our lives and he makes us so happy.
Being a mother is seriously the most amazing privilege I have ever been granted.

Fun things Nixon is up to these days:
-Talks his jibberish to us ALL the time
-Says baby, hot, no, ba (ball), de (deer), wa wa (juice or water), mama, dada, papa (grandpa), ma (more), meme (Manny for handy Manny), bo (book), memi (Emmi our dog), sh (shoes), shh and holds his finger up to his mouth
-When he says all of this, he points to them to let us know he wants them
-Understands a lot of the things that we say
-Knows where his ears, nose, eyes, and belly are (we are working on the rest)
-Loves all fruits
-Loves watching Handy Manny and Chuggington (he'll watch for a few minutes and that's about all his attention span can handle)
-Loves his books, definitely a book worm
-Usually only takes one nap a day now (I'm not ready for this one)
-Loves having his Aunt Lani watch him on the two days that I work
-LOVES both of his Papa's
-Loves watching basketball with Daddy
-Loves to wear his sunglasses
-Finally falls asleep on his own for naps and at night (we don't have to rock him to sleep anymore)
-When he knows he isn't supposed to get into something he points to it and says no but then he usually gets into it anyway
-Loves to do Patty Cake and Ring Around the Rosie
-When he knows we are getting ready to leave, he grabs his blankie and waits by the door

It has been so much fun watching him learn new things everyday.
I LOVE being able to be home with home with him all the time now.
It's hard at times but it is all SO worth it.
I'm enjoying this age, even though he's into EVERYTHING, and I'm trying to take it all in because it all goes by so fast.

Tough Times

This picture of Nixon represents what we have been dealing with a lot lately. He's been a tough little guy to handle lately. He's had a molar come in and one more on the way and I'm sure that has a lot to do with what's going on with him, but it's been hard. REALLY REALLY HARD. He is a child that seriously can't sit still. If he isn't asleep, he's going 100 mph. He wears me out a lot of the time. I feel like I can't keep up with him a lot of the time. When he's awake, my house is a mess. He plays with all of his toys all at once, all over the house. He gets into every drawer, every cupboard, and every counter that he can reach. I don't know how to stop him at this age. Do you start disciplining this early on? He knows the word "NO." If he knows he isn't supposed to get into something he walks up to it, points his finger at it and says "NO." But a lot of the time he still gets into it. He still cries a lot too. He throws fits when he doesn't get what he wants. He whines when he wants something. He wants to be held a lot of the time. Don't get me wrong here. I love him more than I can even explain. I LOVE LOVE LOVE being able to be home with him. He brings me so much happiness and joy. I seriously can't imagine life without him and can't remember what I did with my life before him. I know that everything isn't always easy and that everything we do is worth it in the end. Everything that I go through with Nixon is definitely worth it. And I am so lucky to have Nic by my side. He is an absolutely AMAZING father and husband. He calms me down when I need it. He takes over for me when I need it. I love being a mother and feel so privileged to be able to be Nixon's mom!!!

This was just a venting post for me. If anyone has any suggestions on how to help, I would really appreciate it!

Monkey Boy

Why take your toys out of the toy basket when you can just play with all of them inside your toy basket?
And climbing in and out of your toy basket is so much fun in itself!
Why run on the treadmill when you can hang from it?
Why sit on the couch by the window when you can climb on it and play in the blinds?
Nixon's our little monkey boy and we love it. I'm sure we have many more bumps, bruises, and scratches coming our way!

Pretty Rough Weekend

This past weekend was a pretty rough one for Nixon and I.
Nic was out of town for the weekend for work so I decided to sleep over at my mom and dad's for the weekend.
Nixon and I have had a little cold all week so I was looking forward to having help with him for the weekend.
Friday night I took some cough medicine with codeine so I could sleep well through the night. Nixon went to sleep around 8:30 and I was in bed by 10!!!
Nixon woke up at 11:30 and went right back to sleep.
Then he woke up at 1 and fell asleep in bed with me.
He then woke up at 3:30 and by 5:45 I couldn't handle it anymore.
I went up and got my mom and she took over.
Mom, thank you SO SO SO much!!!
She said he didn't fall back asleep til about 6:30.
So we all had a long day Saturday because we were all tired.
We later figured out that Nixon had a molar that broke through.
Poor little guy!
Sunday was a pretty good day for him.
Nic got home Sunday night and we were all exhausted.
And of course Nixon had another rough night.
He was up 3 times again so today he was so super fussy.
He needed to be held all day.

I took him to wal-mart with me to get a few groceries while his prescription got filled.
We were all done and all I needed was to pick up his medicine.
He was pretty fussy by this point so I had been holding him most of the time.
I put him in the cart for a second while I got my money out and the next thing I know, he fell out of the cart onto the floor.
I'm freaking out, the pharmacist comes rushing over and he's screaming.
The next thing I hear is someone in line yelling "watch your kid!!!".
I ignored the super ignorant lady and took care of my son.
Who does that?
Who yells something like that in a situation like this?
What makes someone think that it's ok to make a comment like that?
We leave the store and I'm a wreck.
I call Nic just bawling and then I call my Dr. to see what they think I should do.
They recommend I take him into the nearest ER, since they were closed, to get checked out and make sure everything was ok.
We took him in and luckily he was acting like his normal happy self and was just fine!
I was so releived but still felt so bad for letting something like that happen.
I know it was an accident but still.
I'm just SO SO SO thankful that everything is OK!

Here are a couple of pictures of his HUGE goose egg on his forehead.
(The pictures don't do it justice)

By the time we got home from the E.R., he was totally back to himself.
He was running around like crazy being the little crazy non-stop boy that he is.
We love you little man!!!
