3rd Anniversary

Nic and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary this past Wednesday, Aug. 5th. It will definitely be a memorable one.

This is how we spent the morning of our anniversary. Nic had been having severe back pain for about 2 weeks, so we went to the doctor, and he suspected that it was a herniated disc, so he ordered a CT scan. So the morning of our anniversary, I drove Nic to get his CT scan, and sure enough he had not only one herniated disc, but two were bulging, and they were right next to each other which was why he had been in so much pain. So after the consult with the doctor, we decided that it would be best for him to get a steroid injection into the area that was affecting him, and that would take down the inflammation around the nerve. They took Nic in, and Nixon and I just hung out in this little waiting room. About half way through, the doctor came out and said that Nic wasn't doing very well. Because two discs were bulging that were right next to each other, there was hardly any space for the liquid from the injection to go, so it was EXTREMELY painful for Nic. They gave him some numbing stuff and waited for it to kick in. While waiting for it to kick in, his body started going into shock because he was in so much pain. The doctor told us that this only usually happens to people that have had surgery because the scar tissue takes up so much room, so they usually sedate the patient, and if they knew how bad Nic's discs were bulging, they would have sedated him. Once that kicked in, they finished the procedure. When Nic came out, this is what he looked like. I have never seen him in this much pain and I felt so bad. It was so hard for me to not cry, but I knew I needed to be tough. Anyway, we finally went home and just lounged all day.
For dinner that night, we decided to go to Happy Sumo. This is probably our most favorite place to have dinner. We LOVE sushi. Nic was in a lot of pain, but we had to have sushi. Even though the day started out not so good, we had so much fun hanging out with each other all day.
And I just want to say that I can't believe that we have been married for 3 years already. A lot has happened, and we have been through a lot together, but it has all been so worth is. We've had our ups and downs, but the good times for sure outweigh the bad times. I am so lucky to be married to Nic. He is such an amazing husband and an even better dad. I seriously love him more everyday and couldn't ask for anything better. I love you babe!
